At these shows I will be exhibiting both jewelry and my new kilnformed work. The new kiln was hooked up as of today (I hope) so I will be creating larger plates, bowls, and platters. Yippee!
This work requires multiple firings, and in addition to firing glass on glass I have begun using special paints on glass and hope to have some of these works ready for these exhibits. Other work involves enamels and metals on the glass once it is ready for its first firing. With a bigger kiln up and running I hope to create custom dinnerware sets....and should have one on display during Joy Street Artists open studios November 22nd &23rd.
As much as I love creating one of a kind flameworked glass beads, my addiction to glass outgrew the torch space of Studio 1, 86 Joy street, Somerville, so I am very happy that I have moved both of my fusing kilns to a new space down the hall. When you come visit me during Open studios, I will now be in Studio 43, where I have room for two kilns, crates of raw glass and a collection of glass working equipment!
www.joystreetartists.org will show more specific site information on open studios as the date gets closer.
Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones during the upcoming show seasons, and thanks to everyone!
